On the counter are the plates by Marian Fieldson. She makes a mold from the pahoehoe (smooth ropy) lava and then stacks and layers colors and glass fusing it together to create an incredible work of art. The surface is brushed with 22k gold. Each one is a unique reminder of the Big Island.
Do you remember the sterling silver by Judith Berg? Most is a filagree style featuring our Hawaiian Honu (turtle), Hibiscus flower, Polynesian tattoos, Petroglyphs, bamboo, birds and flowers. If you got a piece, add to your collection!
Shell designs by Marta Howell using the Black Lipped Oyster and Paua shell. New is the mother of pearl with a druzy nestled in the middle set in sterling. These are in the case infront of me.
Nancy Davis and Joan Anderson create hand hammered light and delicate fashionable necklaces and earrings with semi precious stones and pearls.
Mine, Designs by Layne, are one of a kind. Hopefully you remember what you were interested in!
Finally, you are in the corner of the front of the store chuckling to Don McMahon's Birds on Things prints. He's the funny guy with the great birds! New ones all the time!
